Hollywood is in mourning over the passing of director, producer and writer Garry Marshall. The man, whose vision delivered well-loved movies like "Pretty Woman" and "Princess Diaries," died due to pneumonia complications on Tuesday, July 19. He was 81 years old.

He also left some projects hanging, such as the planned "Princess Diaries 3," which would have been Anne Hathaway's comeback movie after taking a break to give birth and raise a baby.

'Princess Diaries 3' Release, Production: What Happens Now?
Before Garry Marshall died, he had been in talks with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, as well as Disney, in doing "Princess Diaries 3." In fact, the three personalities have been actively pursuing this, but they had to wait until Anne Hathaway has given birth to her first child last March, per Parent Herald.
But while the stars and the director are on board, the studio has not yet to give the greenlight to "Princess Diaries 3" and all they can do is wait. The actors believe that Garry Marshall had all the intentions to deliver "Princess Diaries 3." If not as director to the follow-up movie, he was still going to be heavily involved in its development. The status of the film remains uncertain at this point.
