'Stranger Things' Season 2 Renewal Confirmed: Netflix Series Set For 'Several Seasons' As Producer Hints S2 Plans

Netflix released all eight episodes of its new series "Stranger Things" last July 15, 2016. It has become an instant hit, with critics already lauding the show as one of the best to come out this year.

Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Matthew Modine and a group of children actors, and created by the Duffer Brothers, "Stranger Things" delves on the supernatural and takes place in a small town in Indiana in the 80s. The show gives homage to genre films, which contributes to its appeal. Now, subscribers are wondering if "Stranger Things" has been renewed for Season 2.

'Stranger Things' Season 2 Renewal All But Confirmed By Netflix

While Netflix has yet to make an official announcement to "Stranger Things" Season 2, Matthew Modine divulged that it is happening. Modine spoke to Premiere, a French entertainment site, and categorically but unofficially said, "There will be a season two," per Digital Trends. Watch the actual interview below.

'Stranger Things' Season 2: What Will It Be About?

"Stranger Things" creators Duffer Brothers talked with IGN to discuss what viewers can expect when the show returns. They stated that the intention is to do a sequel, which is not a direct continuation of Season 1. Some unanswered scenarios in "Stranger Things" in the first offering will be left just that -- unanswered. "There are definitely some dangling threads," said Matt Duffer.

However, "Stranger Things" will still involve the same character and settings, should it receive a few more season renewals. The production loves the actors they are working with, so no cast changes will be made in the event that it gets another go from Netflix.

"We definitely are hopeful to go several more seasons," said producer Shawn Levy via Slash Film. "The plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season."

"Stranger Things" is available for streaming in all territories where Netflix is available. Watch the teaser to the series below.
