Captain Marvel News and Updates: Brie Larson Officially Cast As Lead; Will Movie Be Going Up Against Wonder Woman?

We finally have confirmed Captain Marvel News! Brie Larson has finally committed to playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first female onscreen superhero in a move widely seen as an answer to the amazing buzz the Wonder Woman trailer got during the San Diego Comic Convention.

Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige confirmed the Captain Marvel News during the company's panel during Comic Con, the Wired reported. Announcing Larson as the newest addition to the "Marvel family," he did elaborate any more on the project. Screenwriter Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) are reportedly collaborating on the script.

Does this mean that Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel will butt heads in the box office? Not really as Wonder Woman has already finished production and already scheduled for a June 2, 2017 release while Captain Marvel is still in the preproduction process while the script is still being polished. Still, this is great news for comic book movie fans that have been thirsting for feminist action.

After finally having the go-signal to announce the major Captain Marvel News, Larson posted a photo on her official Twitter account of her wearing light make up and a black Marvel Studios cap. "Call me Captain Marvel," she wrote as caption.

Back when rumors of Brie Larson's involvement started gaining traction, Captain America actor Chris Evans said he would be supportive of the casting as he worked with her back in 2009 for nerd cult classic Scott Pilgrim vs The World as The Evil Exes, Cinema Blend reported. "I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson."
