'The Elder Scrolls 6' Release Date, News & Update: Bethesda Needs ‘TES 6’ Delay To Deliver Better ‘Skyrim’ Follow Up?

"The Elder Scrolls 6" release date "delay" announced at E3 2016 may, after all, be a something Bethesda needs to revive the franchise. Although the wait for "The Elder Scrolls 6" is strong indicator that Bethesda did something right with "Skyrim," the "TES" franchise may have been in danger of dropping in popularity.

Parent Herald cites reports that Bethesda announced at E3 2016 that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is happening. Notable, however, is how far off "The Elder Scrolls 6" release date will be.

"The Elder Scrolls" fans had been hoping to see the new "TES" in the horizon around 2018. An even later "The Elder Scrolls 6" release date than 2018 is simultaneously disappointing and hopeful for "TES" players.

On the one hand, "The Elder Scrolls" fans are in dire need of seeing a main installment from the "TES" series after somewhat lackluster "The Elder Scrolls Online." On the other hand, "The Elder Scrolls 6" coming after two major Bethesda project deliveries may bring in a much needed improvement to "TES" offerings.

Granted "Skyrim" enjoys a strong reputation as a successful "The Elder Scrolls" iteration. However, Gaming Bolt points out that the "Skyrim" DLC support, especially onward from "Dragonborn," causes concern that Bethesda is letting "The Elder Scrolls" slide.

In the past Bethesda PR and Marketing Vice President Pete Hines called EA out on making a "fastfood" of game releases. Fan expectation over Bethesda deliveries on the "The Elder Scrolls" franchise is understandably high.

The break from the pattern, so to speak, giving Bethesda an extension of sorts to sort out both the main "The Elder Scrolls 6" release and its DLC campaigns. At the moment, Bethesda is softening the long wait for "TES 6" with "The Elder Scrolls: Legends."

"The Elder Scrolls 6" has been buzzed to relocate to Black Marsh, offering an Argonia map, but Valenwood, Elswyr and Skyrim are also in the running. What improvements do you hope Bethesda to bring with "The Elder Scrolls 6"?
