Eager fans continue to wait for more details on "The Last of Us 2" release date. Naughty Dog has yet to confirm the sequel's existence, but recent reports might finally shed light on the development of the highly anticipated title.
As Chattsportsnet reported, it looks like Neil Druckmann and his team also got their hands full with "The Last of Us" movie apart from the follow-up title. "The Last of Us 2" release date might be a stone's throw away, but the same can be said about its big screen counterpart.
"I have been a writer on it, but right now it hasn't moved anywhere in the past couple years," Druckmann told 89.3 KPCC's The Frame. "The 'Uncharted' film has been in development now for I think nine years so we've learned these things happen at their own time, very slowly."
Speculations are rife that while these two titles are still a long way, "The Last of Us" movie might get an earlier release date than "The Last of Us 2." As Mobile & Apps speculated, "The Last of Us 2" might be slated for a 2020 release date.
In a recent interview about "The Last of Us 2" release date, Druckmann shared how he and his team usually develop the story for their games. He shared that unlike developing stories for movies, the production for video games takes a different path.
"We don't write the story chronologically, I'll usually start in the middle," he told Southern California Public Radio (SCPR). "With 'The Last Of Us', it was the middle of the journey where Joel and Ellie were already together and we will write several scenes in succession for that area as we're building a level and as the gameplay mechanics are coming together."
