''Winds of Winter' Release Date: 'TWOW' Remains Undone In 'A Game of Thrones' 20th Anniversary; GRRM Does Not Resent Complaining Readers

There is no doubt that many are waiting for the sixth book of the popular novel series, "A Song of Ice and Fire." Despite the delays, "The Winds of Winter" remains the most awaited book today. Did you know that it's been two decades since the first book of the series, "A Game of Thrones" was published?

George RR Martin, the brain behind the most popular book series today that inspired HBO's "Game of Thrones" happily announced the series' milestone on his blog. "It was twenty years ago today... not when Sgt Pepper taught the band the play, no, that was much earlier... when GAME OF THRONES was first published. August 1996," he wrote.

Twenty years is quite a long wait for a book to be finished. At the time, George RR Martin still owes his fans two books, "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring."

While others are furious with this realization, many remain supportive of George RR Martin. Dedicated readers of the book don't want the scribe to rush "The Winds of Winter" just to deliver it. They know that GRRM needs a lot of time to finish a book that is as impressive and as beautiful as the first five books.

"ASOIAF" fans don't mind the long wait as long as George RR Martin won't disappoint them with "The Winds of Winter." On a side note, one fan asked Martin if he resent the readers, publishers and fame itself.

Everyone who has been following "The Winds of Winter" knows how wanted the book is and tons of them are complaining about George RR Martin's slow phase. Many claimed that they already lost interest in "TWOW" due to the long wait. While others are concerned that Martin might not finish "ASOIAF" due to his age.

"No, I don't resent my readers. Never. Sometimes, at public events, I do feel overwhelmed, but I always try to remember where I came from, and be grateful for where I am," George RR Martin responded to one fan's question. "As for fame... it has some amazing perks, no denying it, but there are times that I wish I could dial it down a little. Not all the way down to zero, no, nobody likes obscurity, but maybe just a few notches."

As for the delay of "The Winds of Winter" the publishers defended GRRM, WinterIsComing reported. "It's worth saying he's written the best part of two million words of this series in the past 20 years," Jane Johnson, a UK editor said. "So given the average length of a novel is around 100,000 words, that's 20 novels in most writers' worlds."

"The Winds of Winter" is expected to arrive before "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
