DeMarcus Cousins' name has been thrown around numerous times this NBA offseason as reports say that he could be going to Cleveland Cavaliers if Sacramento Kings is giving him up. However, to acquire Cousins, Cleveland Cavaliers must compete with Chicago Bulls and might end up letting go of Kyrie Irving.
Cousins has been playing well in the 2016 Rio Olympics and due to this, not only Cleveland Cavaliers is interested of acquiring him as Chicago Bulls is reportedly going to fight for the highly-prized player. During the first 15 minutes of the first game of the Team USA at the Olympics, Cousins was able to score 17 points and five rebounds, Gospel Herald reported. Before the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls, Cousins was rumored to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers or Boston Celtics.
However, Cleveland Cavaliers might have the best chance to convince Sacramento Kings to trade Cousins as they have Irving, the starting point guard of the Cavs, Sportsrageous reported. Cleveland Cavaliers cannot directly sign Cousins as he still has a two-year contract with Sacramento Kings. Cleveland Cavaliers has no other choice than to give Sacramento Kings a great player in order to let them approve the trade.
Although the reports about Cousins being traded is a hot topics, Sacramento Kings' general manager Vlade Divac said that they will not be trading their star player as they might lose him for nothing especially when he becomes a free agency by the year 2018.
However, other analysts are saying that during the Rio Olympics, they saw Cousins and Irving playing well together. Cleveland Cavaliers could also trade Kevin Love for Cousins as well as first round picks in the future.
Chicago Bulls, on the other hand, might be improved in terms of the 2016-2017 NBA season's roster if they had Cousins with hem due to the recent departures of Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Pau Gasol. Chicago Bulls was able to recruit many players this offseason to help build their roster such as Jimmy Butler, Rajon Rondo, and Dwayne Wade.
