UFC 202 Results: Conor McGregor Defeats Nate Diaz in Epic Rematch

On August 20, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, "The Notorious" Conor McGregor reclaimed his throne at the top of the UFC as he defeats Nate Diaz after 5 rounds of action via majority decision in an instant classic. This makes it 1-1 for the pair, after Diaz beat McGregor in their first bout at UFC 196.

One of the most highly anticipated events in the Ultimate Fighting Championship certainly did not disappoint as McGregor and Diaz put on an all-out war in a match that many are calling the fight of the year. The bout went back and forth in between rounds, but ultimately came down to the judge's scorecards with Conor McGregor walking away with the majority decision (47-47,48-47,48-47)

According to MMA Fighting, McGregor changed his game plan having learned from the first fight, where he steadily paced himself instead of trying to put Diaz away early. He utilized leg-kicks early in the fight to wonder Diaz's movement and then knocked the Stockton native down three times in the opening rounds.

Following the fight, McGregor made the statement that a third fight is now necessary to find out who the better fighter truly is. He said that their next bout should be at 155 pounds, in the UFC's lightweight division, after he fought the bigger man and overcame. Diaz chimed in on this saying that he wanted it to be at 155 pounds since the second fight, according to The Mirror.

McGregor took home a UFC record $3 million in disclosed pay for his work inside the Octagon, while Diaz received $2 million.
