The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gaining plenty of buzz for its upcoming superhero movies: "Thor: Ragnarok," "Doctor Strange," "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," and "Spider-Man: Homecoming." We know Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man will appear in the Tom Holland-starrer, and there are speculations as well that Tony Stark will pop up on Benedict Cumberbatch's "Doctor Strange." Now, new reports are claiming that the magical Stephen Strange would have a cameo in "Thor: Ragnarok."
Film writer Daley Pearson sparked rumors of Cumberbatch's appearance in "Thor: Ragnarok" when he tweeted photos from the movie's Australia set on Sunday, August 21. One of the three snapshots showed lead star Chris Hemsworth holding a business card with an address written on it -- an address that is very familiar for fans of Marvel comics.
As HitFix pointed out, the business card bears the words 177A Bleecker St, which is the address of Strange's residence called Sanctum Sanctorum that was also featured in the trailer for "Doctor Strange." Check out the new "Thor: Ragnarok" set photos here.
The set photo confirmed that Marvel's old superheroes are aware of the existence of the new good guys that will be introduced in the third cinematic phase, according to Polygon. "Doctor Strange's" entrance to the MCU has a huge significance mainly because its magical elements veer away from its predecessors in the fictional universe.
Marvel will also bring together the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in "Avengers: Infinity War." This once again proves Marvel's commitment in making its characters interconnected to each other.
Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor: Ragnarok" is mainly a buddy flick featuring Thor and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. Other cast members include Cate Blanchett as Hela, the queen of the underworld; Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster; and Tessa Thompson as the Nordic heroine Valkyrie a.k.a. Brunnhilde.
The Hollywood Reporter theorized that Thompson's Valkyrie could be Thor's next lady love now that Natalie Portman's Dr. Jane Foster will not return to the film. "Thor: Ragnarok" is also expected to be a bridge to "Avengers: Infinity War," given that the title of the third "Thor" flick directly translates to apocalypse and could be hinting at Thanos' pursuit for universal power, which has apocalyptic-level stakes as well. "Thor: Ragnarok" bows in theaters on November 3, 2017.
