"The Originals" Season 4 cancellation news reveal that the ending of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 does not, in any way, affect its spinoff series. In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Julie Plec shared that the show is there to stay as long as the audience still wants to see more of it.
Plec also noted on the possible appearance of several characters from "TVD" in the upcoming seasons of "The Originals." Even The CW president Mark Pedowitz shared in a recent statement that he has high hopes to see the spinoff series live on for more seasons on TV, reports Zap2It.
"It could live very well on its own. Hopefully it will see a fifth year," he stated during the San Diego Comic Con.
However, the future of "The Originals" Season 4 would still depend on the show's ratings. As most fans can recall, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 was believed to have been cancelled due to the continuous drop in its ratings since Nina Dobrev left The CW drama.
The publication noted on the possibility that several characters from "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will join "The Originals" Season 4. This crossover between the two shows may help make the spinoff series more exciting.
It is unlikely that Ian Somerhalder will join the cast of "The Originals" Season 4 since the actor previously announced his departure from "TVD" Season 8. Many fans are hoping to see Candice King's Caroline in the spinoff series in order to make "Klaroline" a possibility.
