NBA Trade Rumors: Cavs Trading For Dwayne Wade To Replace J.R. Smith?; Smith Remains Free Agent Due To Money Issues?

There is no doubt that J.R. Smith has contributed to the success of Cleveland Cavaliers' in winning its first NBA title. Although most credits go LeBron James, Smith and the rest of the gangs in Cavs are also behind its sweet victory. However, the Cavs is upgrading their roster and might not have the same line up in the upcoming NBA season.

Parent Herald previously reported that LeBron James and J.R. Smith are the top players in the free agency. However, James has already signed a multi-million contract extension with the Cavs but Smith remains a free agent.

Cleveland Cavaliers is fully aware of J.R. Smith's potential. In fact, a separate report, we learned that Cavs is working on a deal to retain J.R. Smith. However, per SB Nation, J.R. Smith remains a free agent as we near September.

According to Steve Kyler, J.R. Smith is asking for a huge pay hike to sign with the Cavs. Smith reportedly asked for $15m per year. However, Cavs is not giving in and seems to have moved on from Smith despite LeBron James enthusiasm to bring Smith back in the team.

According to iSports Times, Cleveland Cavaliers is considering to trade for Chicago Bulls Dwayne Wade to replace their former shooting guard, J.R. Smith. If Cavaliers will be successful in signing Wade, then NBA fans will see the anticipated reunion of Wade and his best buddy LeBron James.

LeBron James and Dwayne Wade played for four NBA championships together for Miami Heat. The pair won two of the championships. Thus, their reunion is expected to be explosive.

However, per the report, it is not wise for the Cavs to pursue Dwayne Wade who just signed a $47 million contract with Chicago Bulls. If they force this arrangement they will lose key players in the process.

Also, Dwayne Wade is reportedly incapable of filling J.R. Smith's role. This we don't agree because both play the same position. In fact, Wade is a better shooting guard and has won the NBA scoring champion in 2009. Based on Smith and Wade's records, Wade is better but more expensive.

If Cavs can't accommodate J.R. Smith's pay hike request, then it is more impractical for the team to pursue Chicago Bulls Dwayne Wade. Do you agree?

Should Cleveland Cavaliers trade for Chicago Bull's Dwayne Wade or give into J.R. Smith's pay hike request instead? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
