While promoting for the film produced by Sam Raimi, Stephen Lang was plagued with questions about the delay of "Avatar 2." According to Lang, they will start shooting "Avatar 2" in 2017 and the anticipated "Avatar" sequel will be available in 2018.
The controversial "Avatar" sequel was expected to arrive in 2014, four years after the first film. Later on "Avatar 2" was pushed back to 2016 and eventually 2018. Have you ever thought about it? By then it has been nine years already since the original "Avatar" was released.
Stephen Lang added that the whole process of filming "Avatar 2" and the rest of the sequels might take them until 2023 to complete. This is fine with "Avatar" fans, so long as James Cameron delivers the film on time because he has kept on pushing it back.
Initially, many thought that Stephen Lang's character is already dead. Neytiri shot him with an arrow twice on his chest but to the surprise of many the "Avatar 2" director, James Cameron told Deadline that they are bringing Col. Miles Quaritch in the succeeding "Avatar" sequels.
Since "Avatar" is a science-fiction story, bringing dead characters to life is not impossible. Aside from Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, who played Dr. Grace Augustine in the first film will also return. Dr. Augustine was a significant character in the "Avatar" because she was behind the study of Pandora. The character also died in the first film.
