Kassie DePaiva is set to return to "Days of Our Lives" soon, but it looks like she can't stay for long yet. The 55-year-old star has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Since "Days of Our Lives" has asked Kassie DePaiva to return as the troublemaker Eve Donovan, she felt that she needed to share with her fans what she has been going through in her personal life. DePaiva wrote in her blog that she was told she has leukemia during the July hiatus of DAYS and has spent six weeks of the last two months in a hospital.
Kassie DePaiva has begun working on her return before her diagnosis. She plans on continuing with it, but for now, she still has three months of treatment. DePaiva assured fans that is doing well and wrote, "My prognosis is good, I will not likely need a stem cell/bone marrow transplant, and we expect a complete cure. I consider this just a bump in the road." She added, "Although I'm unable to be 'camera ready' now... my goal is to get back to stirring up trouble in Salem soon."
The Emmy-nominated star remains faithful and positive and has asked for continued prayers. She also encouraged people to donate fund, stem cells/bone marrow, platelets and blood for patients of leukemia, which remains a rare disease.
"Days of Our Lives" spoilers via Celebrity Dirty Laundry revealed that Eve is expected to return this September for Theresa (Jen Lilley) and Brady's (Eric Martsolf) wedding. The last time she was seen in Salem was when she was leaving for New York with Claire who was pursuing her music career. When she returns, she will be caught in the middle of the prison break drama, where she will serve as Orpheus' (George Del Hoyo) hostage.
You can catch "Days of Our Lives" every Monday to Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
