Fox is producing a spin-off of the hit series "24" and what fans are curious about, as expected, is whether they are going to bring back some of the beloved characters to "24: Legacy." Spoilers tease that one fan favorite is coming back.
"24: Legacy" is currently in the works and many have asked about the possible returns of the main characters. When asked in an interview about whether Mary Lynn Rajskub's Chloe O'Brian role will be part of the reboot, executive producer Evan Katz told TVLine that they do have plans. However, for now they want to focus on introducing the new characters of the series and build a relationship with the audience. "But we have surprises planned," he added.
On one hand, Jack Bauer is very unlikely to be seen in "24: Legacy." In an earlier report from Digital Spy, it has been made clear that Jack Bauer is really gone and won't be talked about upfront. The production wants the new characters to own the show first. Katz told Digital Spy though that a fan favorite is coming back, in a way that will make people happy. It has not been announced yet, but that is something old fans of the original series can look forward to.
"24: Legacy" will feature an unseasoned agent in the field, Eric Carter, to be played by Corey Hawkins ("The Walking Dead"). Carter is a former Army Ranger who took part in the killing a terrorist leader. When he returns to the U.S. and to his normal life, or so he thought. Soon, members of his team were getting killed, and Carter turned to the CTU to ask for help in saving his life and find out why the killings are happening.
"24: Legacy" is slated to debut on Feb. 5, 2017, after "Super Bowl 51." It will then be on its regular time slot the following day at 8 p.m.
