"World of Warcraft," its latest expansion by Blizzard called "Legion," is set to go live this August 30. The creators are hoping that they would revive the status they once had almost 12 years ago and create another stable number of customers in order for the latest version of the game to be successful once again.
"World of Warcraft" is a massive multi-player game that is fantasy-themed. There are still millions of subscribers in the "World of Warcraft" but the number has reportedly begun to decline. "World of Warcraft" reportedly brought in more than 50 percent of Blizzard's revenue but it remains unclear if the same would take place during the game's expansion's release.
Last year, Blizzard announced that "World of Warcraft" subscriptions decreased at least less than half of the 2010 highest number of subscribers, which was 12 million. Despite the decline, it has been reported that there have been increases in subscribers with most of the last five expansions of "World of Warcraft."
Fortune reported that the 2012 "World of Warcraft" extension titled "Mists of Pandria" and the 2014 extension titled "Warlords of Draenor" did not help in the increase of subscriptions due to poor receptions and a busier player base. Graphical upgrades are mostly the changes made in "World of War Craft" extensions in an attempt to retain subscribers.
Also, the abilities of characters' are being upgraded and speeding the process of building a character is also one of the best features regarding the changes made in the previous "World of Warcraft" extensions. However, these changes are not welcomed by some of the longtime players, which probably became one of the causes of the decline of subscribers. The changes are being regarded by longtime players as the game being dumbed down.
As for "Legion," early reviews are saying that the latest extension of "World of Warcraft" will feature every player given powerful weapons and an important role in the gaming world.
The release of "Legion" will depend on the country a person is in. PC Games N reported that in Europe, the times that "Legion" will go live is at 11 P.M. on August 29 and 12 A.M.- 3 A.M. on August 30. For Australia, "Legion" will go live at 5 P.M. on August 30.
