Tom Ellis will be singing in the first episode of "Lucifer" Season 2 when the show returns this September. That's what executive producer Joe Henderson confirmed in an interview. He also hinted of "inter-character" romances in coming episodes, but the first few stories back will definitely be centered on the arrival of Charlotte (Tricia Helfer).
Henderson dished these details during at the Comic Con last June, per Showbiz Junkies. "We will have him singing in the premiere," Henderson said, in reference to the character Lucifer.
"It's one of the things that makes the show unique and it's one of the things that I think wonderfully just comes from the comic," he said, adding that Tom Ellis has a good singing voice. In "Lucifer" Season 1, the actor already showed his singing chops in a couple of episodes.
Henderson also alluded that romances between characters will be cropping up in "Lucifer" Season 2, but much of the arc for the first few episodes will be about Lucifer's mom arriving on earth. Watch Joe Henderson talk about "Lucifer" in the interview below.
Meanwhile, Fox has released a new teaser to "Lucifer" Season 2 that indeed puts mom's arrival at the front and center. The promo, which you can watch at the end of this article, plays up Charlotte's dynamics with his sons in the upcoming season.
TV Line reports that aside from Charlotte's relationship with Lucifer and Amenadiel, her background with Maze will also come to light in "Lucifer" Season 2. It is hinted that Charlotte and Maze have some unfinished business, which should be settled this season.
