‘Married At First Sight’ Season 3 Couple Breaks Rule? Met Before The Show; First Gay Couple Receives Backlash

"Married At First Sight" couple Andy and Craig have a little secret, and it could be against the rule of the show. The two have met each other before they said "I do" in the altar. But more than that, they receive a backlash for joining the reality TV show from the gay community.

The first same-sex couple of "Married At First Sight," Andy John and Craig Roach, have actually met before their wedding, MIX 102.3 revealed. So technically, it was "married at second sight" for them, right? But as it turned out, it doesn't have much bearing.

Two weeks before Andy, 40, and Craig, 41, tie the knot, they had a chance in seeing each other. "He tried to hook up with me, "Andy told NewsCorp. "He was flirting with me. I think it was on a Friday night or Saturday night after work."

Craig laughed at that recollection and said, "I saw him on the street when I was leaving work, and I gave him a look and he gave me a look back." He added, "I never forget a face."

Meanwhile, being the first same-sex couple marrying on the reality show, Andy and Craig were surprised about the negativity they receive, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. Much more disappointing is that the criticisms came from the gay community, which accused them of trivializing the campaign for marriage equality.

"There's been a lot of negative comments about us setting the movement back. It's a gay wedding on Australian television - they should be rejoicing, not hating on us for doing it," Craig said. But rather than political, the couple said that they joined the show for personal reasons. And that is to find the man of their dreams and someone they can spend the rest of their lives with.

Andy and Craig tied the knot in a non-legally binding wedding in New Zealand on Wednesday's episode of "Married At First Sight" Season 3 on Channel Nine.
