MMA News: UFC Legend Dan Henderson Retiring After UFC 204 Title Fight

One of the Ultimate Fighting Championship's pioneers, Dan "Hendo" Henderson, will be retiring after 19 years as a professional fighter. Henderson is set to have one last shot at a UFC title at UFC 204, where he will fight for the middleweight championship against Michael "The Count" Bisping.

Henderson has been one of the longest active fighters in the UFC, first debuting in the UFC 17 tournament, before moving to other mixed martial arts organizations. Henderson would then find success in Pride FC, winning both the middleweight and welterweight titles, then moved back to the UFC before signing to Strikeforce and winning the light heavyweight belt.

Since signing back on to the UFC, Henderson has had some ups and downs during his run, and was unable to successfully win a UFC world title, despite numerous opportunities. Now, he will have one last chance to cement his legacy as he faces Michael Bisping, whom he knocked out in UFC 100, in a rematch for the UFC middleweight title before he retires.

In the pre-fight build up to the UFC 204 event which will be held in Manchester, England, Bisping's home, Henderson and Bisping spoke at a press conference, and the 46-year-old Henderson made it clear that this would be his last professional fight, saying that win or lose, he is going to retire, but retiring with his first UFC title would be ideal, according to MMA Weekly.

Meanwhile, the champion Bisping, has other plans for UFC 204, where the Brit looks to avenge the devastating loss he suffered at the hands of Henderson in a knockout at UFC 100. Speaking with Metro UK, Bisping says that he would love to win one against Henderson, that it is in a fighter's nature to want to avenge any loss on their record.

With UFC 204 in Manchester just a month away, both fighters look to add another accomplishment in their already decorated careers.
