The Oklahoma City Thunder look to rebuild their team and prior to the opening of the NBA regular season by adding another key piece to their roster. This time, the Thunder look to recruit All-Star forward Paul George of the Indiana Pacers, even if it meant trading away two of their key players.
With all the drama surrounding the Oklahoma City Thunder, the former Western Conference champions could use a bit of good news. With Kevin Durant's departure for the Golden State Warriors, the Thunder were on the brink of being "just another NBA team," and not the feared Western conference contenders they used to be.
Luckily for the Thunder, star point guard Russell Westbrook pledged three more years with the team, but with Durant gone, the Oklahoma squad could still use some more firepower, and this is where Paul George comes is, a scoring machine himself, averaging 23.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in his last season with the Pacers.
According to Sportsrageous, Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager, Sam Presti, has made it known that the Thunder organization would love to have Paul George on their team, and forming a super team with both George and Westbrook leading the way. A trade for someone like Paul George, however, would not come so easy, as rumors have circulated that the Thunder would have to let go of big man Enes Kanter and shooting guard Andre Roberson.
A report from Real GM states that the Oklahoma City Thunder would be willing to let go of Kanter, as they were exploring options for him during the pre-season. Seeing that Paul George would be too valuable a player for the Pacers to let go of for just one big man, is perhaps the reason for Roberson's inclusion on the trade.
The Thunder team looks to once again dominate the Western division and the entire NBA as soon as the regular season begins.
