In the previous week, Microsoft began its plan to bring the "Halo" franchise to PC after many years of patient wait from PC fans. The previously announced "Halo 5: Forge" came to the Windows Store last week in the form of a 30GB plus download, and it looks like Microsoft's push really plans no compromise.
With "Halo 5: Forge" as seen on XBox news, only the ability to build maps and modes with scripting can be done through a very powerful toolset currently exists. However, IGN reports that 343 Industries announced a server browser is also incoming, something PC gamers would no doubt be overjoyed to see in a console source title.
Currently also only custom games with friends are supported for "Halo 5: Forge" users. It is of interest however that "Halo 5: Forge" allows 60FPS and 4K support, along with a number of high end graphics tweaks to make use of modern PC hardware.
It also goes without saying that the classic "Halo" controls feel even better with a keyboard and mouse. This will no doubt help "Halo" level designers with that extra bit of precision.
What is also interesting is the release in the past week of the additional "Halo" app for the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. The "Halo" app serves for everything related to "Halo" on PC.
The "Halo" app lists all the games currently supported. Right now "Halo: Spartan Assault" and "Halo: Spartan Strike" as well as "Halo Wars 2" and "Halo 5: Forge" can be seen.
"Halo" fans can reasonably predict that the app will be expanded to include the previously reported "Halo Wars" PC release as cited by Parent Herald. Further to this are the future "Halo" articles coming to PC as cited in a separate Parent Herald article.
Both the "Halo" App and "Halo 5: Forge" are only supported on the Windows 10: Anniversary Edition. "Halo" players will need to upgrade to the service pack to try these out. Just remember to disable the game recording DVR feature which is enabled by default in Windows 10 Anniversary Edition to give "Halo 5: Forge" an extra performance boost.
