‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Air Date, News & Update: Benedict Cumberbatch BBC Series Fans Took The Wrong Clue For S4, Says Mark Gatiss?

"Sherlock Season 4" from the BBC, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Holmes) and Martin Freeman (John Watson), is a trove of mysteries only anchored by the keywords "Thatcher," "Smith" and "Sherrinford." Despite the abundance of advanced "Sherlock Season 4" theories, co-creator and actor Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes) revealed that fans of the BBC series missed the real clue for S4.

Radio Times cites an interview with Mark Gatiss at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on what "Sherlock Season 4" has in store. According to Mark Gatiss, very obvious clues on "Sherlock Season 4" have already been released for fans of the BBC series to mull over, but were surprisingly missed.

Interestingly, Mark Gatiss pointed out that fans of the Benedict Cumberbatch series picked up details that are unrelated to "Sherlock Season 4" and so missed the real clues. Mark Gatiss hinted that "Sherlock Season 4" will bring in a plot for Holmes that even a casual viewer would understand, vetoing overly complicated theories that have been attached to the Benedict Cumberbatch series.

One such "Sherlock Season 4" theory to which Mark Gatiss pointed is linked to the death of James Moriarty (Andrew Scott). The "Sherlock Season 4" theory interpreted the death of James Moriarty in relation to a fairy tale by the brothers Grimm.

Mark Gatiss admitted to being impressed with the more fantastic "Sherlock Season 4" theories that fans of the Benedict Cumberbatch series have developed. Unfortunately most, if not all, of these "Sherlock Season 4" theories will not be part of S4.

BBC is expected to air "Sherlock Season 4" in January 2017, with the promise of romance, comedy and tragedy within its three-episode run as Parent Herald reports. Joining Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Mark Gatiss in "Sherlock Season 4" are returning cast Amanda Abbington (Mary Watson, Una Stubbs (Mrs. Hudson) along with a new band of faces coming into the BBC series.
