Things seem to be working well for Gina Torres, who left "Suits" after six seasons. The actress has found a new home with "The Catch," having been booked for a recurring role in the show's second season.
Gina Torres has signed up for a new gig in "The Catch" Season 2, and as per normal in a Shondaland show, the details of the role are kept under wraps. But Torres teased Entertainment Weekly that her character will be adding a little chaos and some troubles for the lead characters. "She's a fun character and I was so happy to hear where [executive producer] Allan Heinberg wanted to go with her and how she's a bit of a foil and absolutely an equal in every way in terms of matching wits and skill set with Benjamin [Peter Krause] and Alice [Mireille Enos]," she added.
According to TVLine, Gina Torres voluntarily exited "Suits" because she wanted to relocate back home to Los Angeles. "Suits" is being filmed in Toronto, Canada. The actress said in a statement that it was a difficult decision she had to make. "However at this time, it is necessary to get back to my life [in Los Angeles] and all the very important things that being on location in Toronto made very difficult to manage," Torres said, as reported by TVLine.
In a related casting news, EW earlier reported that T.R. Knight is heading back to Shondaland and will recur in the sophomore season of "The Catch." The role of the "Grey's Anatomy" star is also kept secret, but executive producers Allan Heinberg revealed that it is a role that is specially written for Knight.
Gina Torres can be expected to be seen in the early parts of "The Catch" Season 2. The thriller series is slated for a midseason kickoff on ABC.
