‘South Park: The Fractured But Whole’ Release Date, Latest News Updates: Why Ubisoft Delays ‘Stick Of Truth’ Sequel To Q1 2017

Following a nine-month hiatus, avid "South Park" fans were recently in bliss as the much-anticipated 20th season of the hit adult-animated series finally made its television comeback on Wednesday, Sept. 14 on Comedy Central. Unfortunately, the fans' celebratory mood was quite short-lived after the developers of the series' highly anticipated game, "South Park: The Fractured But Whole," announced the postponement of its release date to early next year.

Based on the official Ubisoft blog post, "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" will not be released until the first quarter of 2017, instead of its initial launch schedule on Dec. 6, 2016. According to Digital Trends, the game developers of the 2014 "South Park: The Stick of Truth" sequel explained they wanted further improve and polish the game to ensure the gaming experience will meet the demands and expectations of the fans.

The delay came almost three months after "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" was publicly revealed at the 2016 E3 event in L.A. in June. Kotaku also added the news emerged when the game sequel was made unavailable for Australian users on Steam in spite of the fact that it's available to global audiences, noting the Classification Board has yet to rate the game.

As for further details on "South Park: The Fractured But Whole," Ubisoft has refused to share some information about the role-playing game. But "South Park" creator Matt Stone told The Hollywood Reporter last month the game will feature a massive script.

Stone, along with co-creator Trey Parker, also stressed that they want "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" gameplay experience to be flawless and glitch-free up to the last detail. With that said, it's really not a surprise if the game developers wanted more time to polish the game, especially when the game's predecessor suffered for a huge amount of bugs and technical glitches, Digital Spy noted.

Meanwhile, "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" will be launched on all gaming platforms including Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. As for "South Park" season 20, new episodes are airing every Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
