'The Get Down' Season 2 Air Date, News & Update: Netflix, Creator Baz Luhrmann Take Books, Shaolin Fantastic, Mylene Into The ‘80s?

"The Get Down," an original musical drama from Netflix and creator Baz Luhrmann, with stars Justice Smith (Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa), Shameik Moore (Shaolin Fantastic) and Herizen F. Guardiola (Mylene Cruz), will move on to the '80s in Season 2. While "The Get Down" Season 1 enjoys a successful run set as it is in the '70s, Baz Luhrmann revealed what fans of the Netflix series can expect in S2.

IndieWire cites producer-writer Nelson George in telling Entertainment Weekly of plans for "The Get Down" Season 2. According to Nelson George, "The Get Down" Season 2 could take Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz into the era where Michael jackson, Prince and Run-D.M.C. were enjoying heightened popularity.

Nelson George highlights that "The Get Down" Season 2 will follow the direction that the stories of Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa and Shaolin Fantastic are organically moving into. Mylene Cruz, on the other hand, will move with the end of the disco era in "The Get Down" Season 2.

While a number of fans of the Netflix series are happy to see "The Get Down" continue with what the '70s have to offer Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz will be moving on. Mainly, Nelson George is confident that Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz will enjoy a very good "The Get Down" Season 2 in the '80s.

In an interview with Vulture, Justice Smith explained that the vision creator Baz Luhrmann had for "The Get Down" series. One thing Justice Smith finds remarkable about working with Baz Luhrmann is that "The Get Down" creator asks the Netflix series stars to debate with him about how the journey of Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz should develop.

While plans for "The Get Down" Season 2 are already being built, IndieWire reports that Netflix is set to release the second half of the stories of Ezekiel "Books" Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz for S1 in 2017. The first half of "The Get Down" Season 1 was released by Netflix on August 12 this year.
