The latest "Pokémon GO" Buddy system allows players to pick one of the Pokémon at their disposal as their Buddy. This Pokémon Buddy will accompany trainers in their journeys and as a reward, a piece of Candy will be given to users for every kilometer walked with the pocket monster.
Transferring distance walked with your Pokémon Buddy to another Buddy is possible in "Pokémon GO," and there's an easy way to do this. According to Otakukart, users on Reddit found an easy method for this that requires taking advantage of your device's Ping time rate and the API servers. The API servers update the walked distance of a user together with his/her Pokémon Buddy every five minutes.
It should be noted, however, that this method is of great use for "Pokémon GO" players who have attained the number of Candies they're gunning for before reaching the walked distance required with their Pokémon Buddy. This method allows users to use the additional Candies for their next Pokémon Buddy, making the most out of the time spent on walking with it.
To do this "Pokémon GO" method, players should walk preferably in a straight line, Otakukart further reported. Schedule a time for around four minutes and 30 seconds and then change your Buddy Pokémon to another Pokémon. After an update, the distance you have walked will immediately be transferred to your new Buddy.
It's important to know the Ping time between your device and the API servers. For some, it can take up to 10 to 15 minutes before they receive an update about the distance they walked with their Pokémon Buddy.
On another note, switching to a different Buddy Pokémon will not make you lose your progress, meaning the distance you previously walked with your first Buddy will not reset, according to Heavy. For instance, if you have walked for 3 KM with a Charmander and then switch to Growlithe, that Growlithe's distance will begin at zero kilometers.
But if you switch once again to your previous Buddy Charmander, its 3 KM distance walked will remain. This allows "Pokémon GO" users to pick up where they left off.
The walked distance, however, is Pokémon-specific and not type-specific. If you switch Charmander to another Charmander as your Buddy, the walked distance will start at zero. Evolving a Pokémon will also reset its distance traveled. Stay tuned to Parent Herald for the latest "Pokémon GO" news, tips, and tricks.
