‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Air Date, News & Update: Netflix Series Replaces Eleven With Max? ‘Lost Brother’ Another Dr. Brenner Experiment?

Netflix original "Stranger Things" Season 2 from creators Matt and Ross Duffer will see S1 star Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) replaced by new character Max. Max will be joined by three other characters in "Stranger Things" Season 2, including the much speculated "Lost Brother," who may be an Eleven type experiment by evil Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) at the Hawkins laboratory.

Fans of the Netflix series went into an uproar when Matt and Ross Duffer indicated that Netflix fans will not see Eleven in "Stranger Things" Season 2. Expectations for the S1 star's appearance in "Stranger Things" Season 2 were built up by the Duffer brothers themselves when Hawkins Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) was seen leaving Eggos for Eleven in the forest.

Parent Herald cites reports that the Duffer brothers also mentioned wanting to see Eleven and Chief Jim Hopper together when "Stranger Things" continues. However, The Telegraph cites Millie Bobby Brown in an interview with "Lorraine" that despite returning cast already confirmed for the Netflix series, she has not received confirmation of Eleven being in "Stranger Things" Season 2.

The Telegraph also cites TVLine in describing "Stranger Things" Season 2 newcomer Max, a female character who sounds like a replacement for Eleven. Whereas Millie Bobby Brown charmed fans of the Netflix series with her sci-fi androgynous look Max is a tomboy of a girl, who would be about the same age as Eleven in "Stranger Things" Season 2.

Eleven had been tentative and aloof, mostly from the years of cruel experimentation by Dr. Brenner, while contrastingly Max will show up strong and confident in "Stranger Things" Season 2. So much so that Max may become a ringleader of sorts (rather than a foundling as Eleven had been to the group) when she meets the original foursome of Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) and Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) "Stranger Things" Season 2.

Despite characters from S1 of the Netflix series returning for "Stranger Things" Season 2, The Telegraph cites the Duffer brothers in highlighting that S2 will feel very different. The Duffer brothers are reportedly hoping to make "Stranger Things" Season 2 in much the same way that James Cameron made "Terminator 2" seem different from but familiar to S1.

This direction for "Stranger Things" Season 2 may be what is holding the Duffer brothers back from returning Eleven to Hawkins and to the Upside Down. For the time being, fans of the Netflix series can continue to hope that Matt and Ross Duffer will change direction with Eleven considering that "Stranger Things" Season 2 is still pending a firm release date for 2017.
