The reviews are in for, "Forza Horizon 3," Microsoft's latest entry in their flagship racing series. "Forza Horizon 3" by Playground Games is currently topping the much sought after 90 mark on Metacritic for Xbox One.
At the time of reading, "Forza Horizon 3" will also be out on pre-order pre-release for Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. With the recently released "Halo 5: Forge," Microsoft seems to be making the Anniversary Edition upgrade a pre-requisite for its own published games on PC.
PC gamers got a first taste of "Forza Horizon 3" earlier this year with the free to play beta of "Forza Motorsport 6" on Windows 10. The "Forza Horizon" series though has always had more of a casual leaning, whereas the "Motorsport" series was always more of a serious simulation enthusiast's racer.
Despite this difference though, driving fans are heaping praise on "Forza Horizon 3" as Metacritic indicated. The gameplay of "Forza Horizon 3" can best be described as a not-too-serious open world racing experience set in Australia with a huge number of cars and events to partake, much like last generation's "Burnout Paradise."
Cars in "Forza Horizon 3" aren't just limited to the usual type of racing vehicles. Buggies, off road varieties and even the classic "Halo" Warthog are available.
As the latest in Microsoft's cross-platform effort to bring Xbox One and PC together "Forza Horizon 3" boasts cross-platform play between Windows 10 and Xbox One. "Forza Horizon 3" is also part of Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows continued play between the two platforms.
PC gamers who have had early access to "Forza Horizon 3" though are reporting high system requirements if PC gamers intend to max out settings. This should not come as a surprise as PC has always boasted expandability and customisability beyond consoles, and it seems Microsoft is catering to this high-end market.
"Forza Horizon 3" is currently available on Xbox One. "Forza Horizon 3" is also available now for pre-order early access customers, and for general PC release on 27 September.
