Pokemon fans logging into Niantic Labs' "Pokemon GO" on iOS and Android will be prompted to update to the new version of the hit game. The "Pokemon GO" patch has big additions for this release, including the Pokemon capture location feature and "Pokemon GO Plus" accessory additions.
The new "Pokemon GO" update has the usual assortment of bug fixes and optimizations but the biggest change is the inclusion of geographic details on Pokemon capture. The new "Pokemon GO" capture location feature displays on the Pokemon information sheet the city, region and country where the monster was captured.
This information is backwards compatible, so it will show the capture location of every Pokemon a player has since first signing up for "Pokemon GO." The second major feature in the update will give the Pokémon Go Plus accessory the ability to nab Pokemon via the incense item.
While these new "Pokemon GO" features are nice, there is still a slew of features that Pokemon trainers are after from Niantic. "Pokemon GO" with a distance monitor for sightings so that Pokemon trainers know how far away each sighting is will make the hunt a more of an intelligent experience.
Pokemon trading between players, which has been confirmed by Niantic Labs' CEO John Hanke as GameSpot reports, is a major wait for "Pokemon GO" players. So are live "Pokemon GO" PvP (player versus player) battles.
With regards to "Pokemon GO" PvP, GameSpot reports that the developers at Niantic have hinted that the feature is on its way. Niantic says that they are prototyping this "Pokemon GO" addition with the intention of finding the best way to implement.
The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, spoke of their intentions for "Pokemon GO" PvP. "Battling is a category that we do best at Pokemon, after all," The Pokemon Company CEO highlighted. However, he pointed out that they want to keep a balance between advanced and casual features to keep both "Pokemon GO" newcomers and experienced "Pokemon" players interested.
Here's hoping for a more advanced "Pokemon GO" gym battle system then. The current tap fest can really do with an upgrade to the "Pokemon GO" system.
As The Pokemon Company lays out, maybe this can be done without alienating more casual "Pokemon GO" newcomers. "Pokemon Go" is currently available on Android and iOS devices on the Google Play and Apple Stores respectively.
