George RR Martin is one of the most in-demand authors today. Wherever the author goes, his flock of fans follows. GRRM's epic novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire" that spawned a TV adaptation "Game of Thrones" catapulted him to fame. However, for those waiting for "The Winds of Winter," reports have it that George RR Martin wants readers to be more patient because the book is still in the works.
George RR Martin is fresh from Emmy Awards where "Game of Thrones" won eight recognitions. Finally, the New Mexican author is back home where tons of work is waiting for him. According to the "The Winds of Winter" scribe in his blog he needs to catch up with the zillion things that need his attention.
Of course, among the things that George RR Martin needs to attend to is "The Winds of Winter." Fans of the "ASOIAF" series have been waiting for the book for five years and counting yet it's still not on the bookshelves.
Per GameNGuide, there are rumors that fans are already angry due to the delay of "The Winds of Winter." In response, GRRM is asking his followers to be more patient. The same report added that there is no definitive proof that GRRM did so or that the fans are really angry due to the long wait.
If you've been following the progress of "A Song of Ice and Fire" it only took two years for George RR Martin to publish "A Clash of Kings" (1998) after "A Game of Thrones" (1996) and another two years to publish the third book "A Storm of Swords" (2000). The long wait starts with the fourth book "A Feast for Crows" which was released in 2005. It took Martin another six years to publish "A Dance with Dragons" in 2011.
The TV series, "Game of Thrones" premiered in 2011 and since then there were no concrete reports as to when "The Winds of Winter" will be out. George RR Martin's commitment on TV, public appearances, and other books like "Wild Cards" are keeping him busy, which further delayed the anticipated "The Winds of Winter."
GRRM announced earlier that he wants to publish "The Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premieres. We hope that this time, he will meet his target. Otherwise, it will be another disappointment to the waiting fans.
