Eat More, Weigh Less: Eating Habits Leading To Longevity And Genuine Happiness

More than two in three adults are said to be overweight or obese in America, according to a research. What is the problem of Americans? Food, work, and other unhealthy habits are pointed out to be culprits.

In the struggle to be healthy, Americans are continually looking for ways to lose weight but the problem is, many want it badly and prefer to do it fast. The fact that many are desperate to shed weight, they fall into some bad patterns. Some of these are enumerated by news.com as the following:

  • Eating frequently to keep metabolism going
  • Going to the gym to cancel out eating bad food
  • Losing weight quickly is bad
  • Exercising at least an hour a day to lose weight
  • Eating low carbohydrates after 2 p.m. to maximize fat loss
  • Eating less to lose weight

Harvard nutritionist and Hawaii Living Treasure, Dr. Terry Shintani, cancels out all of these especially the last one. He wrote a book called "Eat More Weigh Less" and "Peace Diet," emphasizing that the best way to lose weight is to eat more and obtain inner peace. His idea of eating more is backed up with a diet program that he has designed for years, and such program has already helped thousands to reverse their diseases especially obesity.

"People get full by the amount of food they eat, not the number of calories they take in," according to a CDC report. The research suggests that cutting calories by lowering the amount of fat and/or increasing the amount of fiber-rich ingredients likes vegetables or fruit are the best way to lose weight.

Dieting is not depriving. A person could not lose weight by too much dieting or too much deprivation of foods. Integrated Wellness points to these as two ways to get fat.

Experts say you need to enjoy life by eating more healthy foods, being active regularly and being happy in spite of the everyday challenges. The key to longevity and ideal body is not achieved by petty diets but by attaining inner peace as well.
