Save the farewells as the well-loved Cartoon Network animation, "Adventure Time", is soon to bid adieu with its series finale showing on 2018, the cabler has recently announced in a statement. After its premiere in 2010, it will be closing curtains until its 9th season.
As per Entertainment Weekly, Cartoon Network announced that the last season will compose of "142 half-hours of content." Apart from the episodes that will chronicle the last adventures of Jake the Dog and Finn the Human, "Adventure Time" series finale will also include mini-series, specials and more, leaving fans a tinge of curiosity of what this "more" could possibly encompass.
"Adventure Time changed the definition of what a kids' TV series could be, and it's had a resounding impact upon popular culture around the world," Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network, said according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The eight-year-old cartoon series has been awarded with prestigious awards, including not only one Emmy, but six." Adventure Time" is also awarded with two British Academy of Film and Television Awards. Over the years, notablecelebrities have voiced in several episodes including Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Samberg, Matthew Broderick, George Takei, among others.
Meanwhile, animation creator Pendleton Ward expressed how proud he was with the show that has be the fruit of people who "poured their heart in the art and stories." By putting the animation with something so personal and genuine, he further said that he's really glad that it "connected with an audience for so long."
The cult hit animated series evolves around the story of the two mentioned characters through their adventures--and misadventures--in the land of Ooo. The 12-year-old boy journeys with his beloved whimsical dog as they battle theevils in the land casted mainly by the Ice King.
The cartoon series featured a lot more characters, eccentric at that, which appealed to young and adult viewers alike. Prominent characters apart from Jake and Finn are Marceline the Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum, Earl of Lemongrab, Beemo and so much more.
