Episode 3 of season 8 of "NCIS: Los Angeles" finally aired this Sunday, continuing the hot start to the season by featuring some major romantic drama between Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) that almost gave fans what they have been waiting for.
Titles "The Queen's Gambit," the "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode featured Deeks finally stepping up and popping the question Kensi. Unfortunately, Deeks' proposal fell on deaf, or rather comatose, ears with Kensi still under the medical-induced coma she was put under, according to TV Guide and Buddy TV.
As fans and viewers will know, "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 began with an action-filled two-part premiere that had the team try to deal with mysterious thefts and a highly obstructive bureaucrat. When the premiere ended, Kensi was in a badly injured state due to the helicopter she was riding on getting shot down.
To try and save her life after that explosive "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 premiere, doctors placed Kensi in a coma; leaving her friends and coworkers, especially Deeks, devastated by the wounding of a beloved teammate. On his end, Deeks finally decided to pop the question to Kensi, perhaps worried about the grim prospect of her future.
The "NCIS: Los Angeles" episode almost featured a scene that seemingly showed the power of love also carrying the power to heal, with Kensi's hand twitching after Deeks slipped a ring on her finger. According to doctors, Kensi will be mostly alright despite her grave injuries although there is the possibility that she will be paralyzed on the left side of her body.
As is customary for engagement rings, Deeks slipped it on the ring finger on Kensi's left hand which promptly twitched afterwards. With "NCIS: Los Angeles" being more grounded in reality, the power of love does not always work and according to the doctor however, the twitching was just a normal involuntary muscle spasm and, in fact, Kensi still has no signs of brain activity.
All in all, the next episodes of "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 does not indicate a bright future for either Kensi or Deeks. Only time will tell when Kensi might ever wake up from her coma, or that if she will retain control of her left side; perhaps when "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 returns on Oct. 16.
