"Final Fantasy XV" will finally release in a little under two months, with its original Sept. 30 release date moved back to Nov. 29 to further polish the game. To show off the "Final Fantasy XV" dev team's work, a couple of new videos have been released showcasing the game running on Xbox One and the new Death spell.
The "Final Fantasy XV" team took the stage at the recent TwitchCon 2016, presenting a demo of the game; whereas the prior footage of the game were all from the PlayStation 4 version, the TwitchCon 2016 demo ran on the Xbox One. The video was posted on Theemmywall's YouTube channel, as shared by DualShockers, with a shorter video focusing on the Death spell posted on the official "Final fantasy XV" YouTube channel.
The TwitchCon 2016 demo showed off the additional polishing done by the developers on "Final Fantasy XV"; alongside introducing brand new quests, locations, a new boss, and even showing off Chocobo riding. One of the most notable elements though is the brand new Death spell in "Final Fantasy XV," which might ring familiar to veteran "Final Fantasy" players.
The "Final Fantasy" series has a stable of staple gameplay elements and plot mechanics, such as character types and names being present across entries in the franchise. For gameplay, "Final Fantasy" has a number of spell types and elements showing up in each entry with the Death spell ability being one of the more prominent ones.
As one of the longest-running gameplay mechanics in "Final Fantasy," the Death spell has been a bit of a sore point for fans considering its supposedly immensely powerful effect of causing instant death to an enemy is offset by a ridiculously low success rate. Often times, players would cast the Death spell repeatedly on an enemy to the point that they would run out of magic points or spell uses but the effect will still not work, but the Death spell in "Final Fantasy XV" seems to be a much better version.
As seen in the videos, casting the Death spell on enemies in "Final Fantasy XV" requires players to simply channel the spell long enough until the target gets slowly thinner and blinks out of existence in a dark red mist. The videos even show Noctis casting the Death spell on enemies repeatedly with no seemingly apparent drawbacks; though interestingly, enemies seem to stay in their thin "drained" state if the Death spell gets interrupted halfway.
At any rate, it seems like the Death spell will finally be truly a spell of ensured death in "Final Fantasy XV," gone are the days of the grim reaper swinging his scythe at enemies only for them to feel nary a tickle. Get ready to start draining the life out of enemies with the Death spell when "Final Fantasy XV" finally releases on Nov. 29.
