"Attack on Titan" Chapter 86 picked up when Grisha was still a young boy who wandered in a restricted area with his sibling Faye. They were stopped by two guards who asked for their permits but they can't show any. When Grisha and Faye were about to be punished, Grisha asked the guards to let her sister go which the guards permitted on "Attack on Titan."
Unfortunately, Faye was seen dead near a river the next day which caused Grisha's parents to tell him the truth behind their family's history on "Attack on Titan." It was then revealed that they belong to the Elodian race who once abused the people of Mare.
The Elodian race on "Attack on Titan" are descendants of Ymir Fritz, a man who made a pact with the devil in exchange of Titan powers. When he died, his powers were divided into nine which was then inherited by the Elodians on "Attack on Titan." The Elodians grew strong but the Mare people managed to infiltrate their base and was able to steal seven of their powers.
The direct descendants of Fritz, the Royal family, then fled to Paradis Island on "Attack on Titan" and surrounded themselves with three walls to protect their race. The rest of Elodians, including Grisha's family, were left in Mare territories to live a life of ghettos. When Grisha turned 18, he became a doctor and joined a group where he discovered that the Mare government are the ones abusive and not the Ymirs.
There, he met his wife, Daina Fritz, a royal descendant of the Fritz. "Attack on Titan" saw the couple had a child named Zeke, royal descendant of Fritz, who they asked to join the Mare soldiers to infiltrate the government. Zeke, however, was apparently brainwashed by the Mare government and turned his parents in on "Attack on Titan."
"Attack on Titan" then ended with Grisha and his wife Daina being thrown to Paradis Island to be Titans. It is a punishment that Mare people cast to Elodians who do not follow their rules. What do you think happened to Grisha at the land of Paradis? How did he manage to become a human again on "Attack on Titan?"
Here is a review of "Attack on Titan."
