"The Walking Dead" season 7 speculation pot got stirred once again, with AMC sharing a sneak peek teaser of the upcoming season premiere during the recent New York Comic-Con. The teaser showed more of Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) appearance on "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere, with the new scenes indicating that Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) right hand will suffer a gruesome fate.
As Bustle reported, a bone-chilling teaser of "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere was shown to attendants of the recent New York Comic-Con, which had Negan confronting and taunting Rick about the former's most recent victim. Viewers will remember that events leading up to "The Walking Dead" season 7 ended on one of the biggest cliffhangers in television series history, with Rick and his group ending up captured and Negan finally introduced right on time to have his barbed baseball bat Lucille beat someone.
The sneak peek was then shared on the official Fox International Channels YouTube Channel, so viewers can watch before the "The Walking Dead" season 7 starts in about two weeks. The sneak peek teaser showed a segment of "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere of Negan talking to Rick after mauling another character, with Negan's dialogue eventually leading up to the subject of right hands for both the literal appendage and the figurative supporter.
"The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere showed Rick still bound, presumably filled with cold rage after having to helplessly watch Negan brutalize his friend to death and promising to kill the Saviors' leader sometime in the future. On his end, "The Walking Dead" season 7 teaser showed Negan proceeding to check what Rick brought as a weapon and, upon finding out it was a hatchet, then start talking about his own right-hand man Simon.
Negan then questioned Rick about the importance of a right hand in "The Walking Dead" season 7 teaser, asking if the person he just killed was the latter's right-hand person. It was then that "The Walking Dead" season 7 teaser proceeded to become even more grim than it already was, with Negan dragging Rick to the secluded cabin of an RV, likely to hack off his right hand based on Negan's prior words.
If Negan does end up cutting off Rick's right hand in "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere as the teaser implied, then it will be another point of the show becoming much closer to the original "The Walking Dead" graphic novel series. Rick previously lost his right hand during a confrontation with the Governor, and it seems like "The Walking Dead" season 7 will bring that grim plot point into the show's story when Sunday, Oct. 23.
