CW Network is set to air the premier of season 2 for "Supergirl," which stars Melissa Benoist, following a successful conclusion of the superhero series' first season. This time, Superman would be joining forces with "Supergirl" to battle against upcoming villains as they embrace their normal day-to-day lives.
A two-minute clip of the duo saving a rogue aircraft from plunging its passengers to their deaths had circulated online following her new home network a few hours ago, Variety reports. And fans were left to some pretty bit of imagining if the short teaser would be the pilot episode for "Supergirl" season 2.
Clark Kent, Kara's cousin, would be played by the hunky Tyler Hoechlin ("Teen Wolf") and he does look the part as Superman in the trailer. More brazen than her cousin, "Supergirl" fearlessly attempts to do the rescue until Superman shows up to help her.
Since long-running series "Smallville" ended its run some five years ago, the return of Superman to TV is an interesting mash-up for viewers to get more curious about Supergirl's powers and abilities. That's saying should she be showing more of her existing powers, or would showcase new ones.
The premiere for "Supergirl" season 2 with Superman added into the mix is a cool strategy from the show's creators, in a related Hollywood Reporter post. With girl power as the show's main theme, "Supergirl" season 2 is also going to go places, especially since upcoming movies like Wonder Woman and a Harley Quinn solo movie have elevated the femme fatale status (in a good way, of course).
Clark Kent doesn't need to show off either. It's super easy to see on the premiere that both superheroes do work well together. Catch Supergirl" and Superman level up the action when season 2 airs tonight on The CW!
