After finishing "Murder in the First" Season 3 on quite a high note, TNT has decided not to renew the crime drama for a Season 4. The third season aired its final run on Sept. 4.
TNT is not pushing through with "Murder in the First" Season 4, as reported by Deadline. According to reports, the move comes at the heels of the network trying to clear some slot for new projects that would be darker and more provocative, starting off with "Animal Kingdom" and "Good Behavior." "Murder in the First" doesn't quite fit to that crop, the show being an anthology rather than a traditional procedural like the other crime series of the network. TNT topper Kevin Reilly is the helm of such shift.
"Murder in the First" starred Taye Diggs (Terry English) and Kathleen Robertson (Hildy Mulligan) as homicide inspectors. Created by Steven Bochco and Eric Lodal, it also starred Ian Anthony Dale, Raphael Sbarge, Lombardo Boyar, Currie Graham and Mimi Kirkland. It was set in San Francisco.
"Murder in the First" Season 3 reached a season high audience of 1.6 million viewers in live plus same day during its finale episode. It is still considered a good number despite it being lower than its 3 million viewers during the series debut.
The news of the cancellation of "Murder in the First" came as a disappointment for the fans who took to social media to express their sadness. "Pretty upset with @tntdrama because they cancelled @MurderFirstTNT! I love that show!" one comment reads. "So disappointed @MurderFirstTNT was cancelled!!" another one wrote.
Fans are yet to hear from the stars about they feel with "Murder in the First" not coming back for a fourth season. For now, everyone would just have to make their own endings, like seeing Terry and Hildy end up together in a romantic way. What do you think would have happened to the characters?
