iPhone 7 has just been released in the retail market, and so the attention now shifts to what the next Apple smartphone will look like. Reports reveal that iPhone 8 is doing away with some features and specs as it undergoes a major design overhaul.
The next flagship iPhone, which is also assumed to be called Apple iPhone 10 in line with iPhone's 10th anniversary, is set to receive a hug design makeover that many people have always wanted. In a BGR report via Yahoo! Tech, there were claims that more proofs are emerging regarding the iPhone 8 having an all-display face. That means the home button or any bezels or borders are going to be removed.
The bottom bezel would be easier to remove as it only houses the home button. The upper bezel, though, includes other features such as light sensors, front camera and speakers, and that's where the complexity comes in. But what was once a design that cannot be accommodated by the existing technology seems to be coming into reality. The report revealed that there is a new Apple patent for that technology.
The patent document explained that the light sensor is laterally displaced from the active display real estate. To accommodate the light sensor, there is an additional space provided at the top, bottom or side of the display. The patent also mentioned that use of OLED rather than LCD.
iPhone 8 will also be made of glass and its aesthetics of iPhone 4 and 4s that have a glass back, as reported by Business Insider. The frame could also be made of steel instead of aluminum, according to Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo. The next iPhone will also have wireless charging, and like the iPhone 7, it will not feature a headphone jack.
