Samsung News, Rumors: Upcoming Galaxy S8 Will Ditch Home Button, Go Bezel-less And New Voice Assistant

Despite its recent protocol to formally cease the production of the Galaxy Note 7 due to its battery defects, Samsung is still one of the top prime movers of the electronics world. The issue, while already isolated, will have an undeniable mark on the company's history and bankroll, but this is also the time for Samsung to move on and bounce back with a prospect that could erase the bitter predicament.

Case in point, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is one such Smartphone with seemingly unlimited potential. Rumors about the upcoming flagship have been exploding since last week, and there have been talks that the S8 will cater to a bevy of bells and whistles. According to Korean IT website ETNews, Samsung's upcoming handheld will include "huge hardware changes". Some of these "noticeable" innovations that will immediately stand out is the removal of the Samsung Galaxy S8's physical home button "that sticks out from the front of the Smartphone and implement a home button function from behind the tempered glass or inside the display."

Additionally, the new home button will also recognize the user's fingerprint. This is not an entirely new technology, as modern premium devices are already carrying the feature. However, it's been said that should Samsung push for the removal, it will most likely fill the entire front screen of the Galaxy S8 with just a screen. In this case, Samsung's "bezel-less" specification will be put into full use, and will most likely "eliminate the top and bottom edges of the display" to produce a "full screen" effect.

ETNews further advocated that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first phone from the company to incorporate a dual rear camera to the tune of a 16megapixel and an 8megapixel clicker. A Samsung representative said that they have finalized and opted to go with dual cameras rather than a separate dual-camera "to improve the quality of pictures" that expressed depth of field and an out-focusing effect that blurs the background of the subject.

Samsung is also exploring the possibility of using an upgraded Application Processor (AP) as the brain of the Smartphone. As per Samsung's LSI Business Department Foundry Business Team, the company will start mass-producing 10-nano Qualcomm Snapdragon 830s by the end of this year at the latest. This will go along with another chip, the Samsung produced Exynos CPU.

On the other hand, Android Authority has it that two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be made available. There's a 5.1inch device with a curved QHD Super AMOLED display and a 5.5incher with 4K resolution. Also, Samsung's S Voice app is speculated to be set aside in favor of a "smarter AI assistant courtesy of artificial intelligence platform maker Viv Labs. The new system, it added will hopefully go the ranks of Apple's Siri and Google Assistant.
