There's no stopping American dj duo The Chainsmokers' rise to fame. But recently, they just dared to ignite the fire in the music industry and hit at queens, no other than Lady Gaga and Rihanna--straightup.
Rolling Stone featured The Chainsmokers,' composed of Alex Pall and Drew Taggard, recent interview with them. Getting to know The Chainsmokers, they shared how they manage to turn the world upside down from the hard-partying duo to land a mainstream big break. Now, pop music artists like fellow dj Calvin Harris, Bono and One Republic's Ryan Tedder are in awe of their masterpieces.
One moment of which is when Bono visited their studio, played some U2 song and listen to The Chainsmokers stuff. For some reason, Bono reacted and went like, "That's great-will you send that to me?" Taggart shares.
MTV, citing the same interview, reported The Chainsmokers opinion about Mother Monster and Rihanna's music. Asked about Lady Gaga's newest album entitled "Joanne," Alex dropped the bomb and went like "It sucks." Drew said "She's a great artist--like, Jeff Koons made a sculpture of her." The former agreed, albeit seemingly with hesitation, and shared that various talented contributors added to the song.
As for the case of Rihanna, the duo reached out to her to sing "Don't Let Me Down" but Rihanna let a thumbs down for the demo. So, to settle the jeopardy, the break went to Daya.
Pall said it was OK citing Daya and descried a hunger in younger artists yet to break into the scene. Though, Rihanna is working hard, too, in her unique style.
The Chainsmokers is the brainchild behind millennials' pop music anthems like "Don't Let Me Down," "Roses," "Waterbed," and their latest single that blow the international music arena, "Closer." Along with fame, the struggle is to keep everything grounded.
