Syfy's epic space drama, "The Expanse," is currently in production for its second season. But the rest of the world would have a chance to catch up on it as Netflix is set to release the series outside of North America and New Zealand.
Netflix has acquired the rights to distributed "The Expanse" internationally, as reported by Deadline. "The Expanse" Season 1, which premiered in the United States in 2015, is already set to be released on Nov. 3. "The Expanse" Season 2, which will premiere in 2017, will also be launched on the streaming service.
"The Expanse" stars Thomas Jane, a detective, and Steven Strait, a rogue ship's captain. The story is set 200 years in the future, at a time when the mankind has taken over the solar system. The two lead characters embark on a journey that would expose one of the biggest conspiracies in history.
Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby developed "The Expanse" based on best-selling book series by Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham. In addition to Fergus and Ostby, the executive producers are Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Sharon Hall, Naren Shankar, Sean Daniel and Jason Brown. It also stars Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Florence Faivre.
Meanwhile, "The Expanse" Season 2 is adding a new cast member, Frankie Adams ("Shortland Street"). As reported by New Zealand publication Spy News, Adams is going to play Bobby Draper who would deal with good amount of action scenes. The production feels that Adams is perfect for the role given her physique.
"Bobbie is very physical so we wanted an actress who was very comfortable with being physical. An actress who never appeared to be intimidated in any situation but who could occupy as much space as any of the other cast and could be intimidating to them," the production said of Frankie Adams and the role.
The first look of Frankie Adams as Bobbie Draper has already been released, and fans are excited to see her. It looks like all is set for a good reception to the Kiwi actress.
