Trade rumors regarding Sacramento Kings are once again circulating and this time, it is about Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore. Accordingly, the two will be traded to another team instead of DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins has been on the trading block most of the offseason for the 2016-2017 NBA Season but there seems to be no action to be done over the player. Rumors have then started swirling that instead of Cousins, Gay and McLemore will be leaving the team because Sacramento Kings would like to keep Boogie despite the unlikely harmonious relationship between the player and the management.
Sportsrageous reported that Sacramento Kings might push through with trading Gay and McLemore as they want to end the 10-year playoff bad streak. The franchise started with hiring a new head coach, Dave Joerger.
Gay recently expressed that he will be exercising his player option to become an unrestricted free agent next offseason and this might be the reason behind Sacramento Kings possibly trading him. Sacramento Kings would like to get someone in exchange for Gay because if he becomes a free agent, the NBA team will not be able to benefit from his exit.
As for McLemore, it is believed that his agent wants him out of the Sacramento Kings because he is not able to show off his real skills while playing for the NBA team. His agent reportedly claims that if he will be playing for another team, his "hidden potential" will be revealed.
However, SLAM reported that the general manager of Sacramento Kings, Vlade Divac, commented on the reports. He said that he recently joked with Gay the other day saying that they like him so much so they decided to keep him playing for the Sacramento Kings. He then went on to say that Gay is a tremendous talent and is somebody who is beautiful to watch while paying in court. He noted that if Gay decides to leave next year that would be fine but they have to make sure that they will be able to play well this 2016-2017 NBA season.
As for McLemore, Divac said that they are happy with his progress so they are going to keep him.
