Emma Stone On Inequality In Hollywood: Expresses Her Discontent Over Pay?

American Actress, Emma Stone opened up about the disparity in the wages of men and women in the Hollywood. Expressing her disappointment on the issue, Emma Stone experssed her sentiment that everyone deserves fair treatment and payment.

In an exclusive interview with Vogue magazine, the Oscar nominee who turns 28 this November revealed that though she disagrees with pay inequities of the industry, she has not personally been impacted by it. "I've been lucky enough to have equal pay to my male costars. Not 'lucky.' I've had equal pay to my male costars in the past few films," Stone added.

"But the industry ebbs and flows in a way that's like, 'How much are you bringing into the box office?' 'How much are you the draw is the other person the draw?' " Emma said expressing her discontent. She added that the system is insane and there is no excuse to continue it anymore.

Also, the actress stated that she felt uncomfortable talking about it to her agent or lawyer as it involves looking at oneself from the outside. The actress's statements buttress the claims by another popular actress, Jennifer Lawrence who strongly criticized the pay disparity between male and female actors, earlier last year, reported CNN.

Emma Stone is all set for the opening of her movie "La La Land" that is slated for release in December, this year. Starring alongside Ryan Gosling, Stone portrays an aspiring actress trying to make her way in a cruel town. Ryan Gosling plays a jazz-club owner and the story revolves around their romance while they encounter the struggles in their respective careers.

The film has already received several accolades when it opened at the Venice Film Festival. Appreciating the film, actor Tom Hanks was quoted saying " If the audience doesn't go and embrace something as wonderful as this, then we are all doomed."
