The fitness smartwatch that smashed all records of on a crowd-funding site with its first wearable watch in 2013 has returned in an all new form with its successor model, "Pebble 2". The new model carries with it several features that are likely to be embraced gladly by its users.
"Pebble" watches boast of certain unique features such as longer battery life, truly always-on screens, and being water resistant. According to reports by Cnet, the new model comes with an optical heart rate tracker that supplements the activity tracking chops of the company's 'Pebble Health software'. It protrudes slightly so that it can nuzzle in between the bones of one's wrist to get a reliable reading.
Also, the "Pebble 2" has a covered 1.26-inch screen in Gorilla glass replacing the plastic one of the earlier model. This will ensure better scratch resistance and general hardness without affecting it's legibility in bright environments. Additionally, in darker conditions, there's a subtle backlight to ensure the screen remains legible.
Enlisting the new features included in the ""Pebble 2,Recombu explains that, the smartwatch operates on the Timeline OS. Navigation takes place by way of the watch's side -mounted hardware buttons, with a press down from the watch face jumping into upcoming events from one's calendar. A press up takes the user to the latest Pebble Health stats.
Besides serving as a fitness tool, the model also enables the user control the music, receive notifications and also respond to messages with canned responses, emoji's or voice responses through an integrated microphone.
Forbes reports that with its dedicated Workout app, the "Pebble 2" presents an easy user interface. It has dedicated Run and Walk settings plus a generic Workout setting. The reporting of heart rate is, however, slow as compared to "Garmin Forerunner", reports suggested.
Priced at $129 dollars, "Pebbles 2" has an edge over its competitors. Covering all the bases that a smartwatch should, it makes an economical buy for users!
