Digital gaming app giant, "Candy Crush", will soon be witnessed as a live action game show, thanks to CBS penning the deal for a go. Game developer King Games will be working together with CBS and Lionsgate to bring something at par with "Fear Factor" and "Wipe Out."
Known as the "Clash of Clans" and "Pokemon GO" counterpart of its era, King Games' "Candy Crush" will be a big one, says CBS per CNN. The incoming game show will have giant, interactive gameboards equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The game show will also be available for international viewing, as Lionsgate will be distributing "Candy Crush" worldwide.
What is known so far is that the game show will be comprised of two teams battling to be the "Candy Crush" champion. Moreover, it will be somehow patterned to "Wipe Out" as the 2008 game executive producer Matt Kunitz will be working for the sweets-themed game show as well. Kunitz will be working hand-in-hand with "Candy Crush" creator Sebastian Knutsson.
The network has been reserved with regards to the game show's other specifics yet. So far, prizes and entire game mechanics are yet to be announced, including the host of "Candy Crush" game show and its maiden air date.
With the advent of newer gaming apps in the likes of "Pokemon Go", "Candy Crush" lose its spot in the limelight after being the top downloaded game for both iOS and Android systems during its early days. Currently, "Candy Crush" is in the 130s spot in Apple App Store according to TechCrunch.
Nonetheless, King Games' top titles aside from "Candy Crush" like "Candy Crush Saga" and "Candy Crush Soda Saga" is still doing a lucrative business despite a drop in ranking. Altogether, an average of 18 billion game rounds are still racked every month.
