"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" premieres its second season on The CW on Friday, Oct. 21, at 9:00 p.m. The crazier and better season will open with the revelation that Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) and Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III) are living together and she's finally with her greatest love.
But the situation is a lot more nuanced than that, as Rebecca would say on "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Despite her and Josh endlessly locked in each other's arms in the bedroom, the cracks in their relationship slowly seep through.
Mercury News notes that Josh isn't exactly sure what he's doing with Rebecca on "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." He believes that their situation is only a temporary one and that he will eventually have to move out and get his own place.
E! Online reveals that "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 will feature bigger musical numbers, including a parody of Beyonce's "Lemonade." Entertainment Weekly praises the season premiere episode with a grade of A and notes that the supporting cast also steps up their game in the new season.
Meanwhile, Greg (Santino Fontana) will be revealed to be battling with alcoholism in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2. This might also explain why his character will be missing and laying low and it's unclear whether Rebecca has been the trigger for him.
"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 also returns with a new theme song and opening clip, which carries the new underlying story in the series. If last season was about Rebecca moving to West Covina but denying that it was because of Josh, this season is about Rebecca admitting that she is definitely crazy in love.
At the core of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" is a woman who has mental issues but her story is told in a way that can be amusing and musically entertaining. The show is thriving on The CW despite its struggling ratings. Hopefully, the summer hiatus and the run on Netflix last September is enough to build on a following for Season 2.
