Drones play a huge part in video capture and footages. Two of the best brands are inevitably put side to side to determine which one is better, is it GoPro Karma or DJI Mavic?
According to Seeking Alpha, DJI Mavic will be a month delayed in terms of release giving GoPro Karma a good lead time. There will be no competition for GoPro Karma for months until official word is released regarding DJI Mavic.
Comparison between GoPro Karma and DJI Mavic has been a good point for debate as both are known to have the best functionality performing the job and simply the best product. It is just a matter of hitting the right target market for both DJI Mavic and GoPro Karma.
The issue mainly is the shipping and availability of DJI Mavic. It was reported that has not been shipped and did not meet their Oct. 15 schedule. DJI also has no official word as to the official shipping to those who pre-ordered DJI Mavic.
As per News Everyday, though top of the class, DJI Mavic and GoPro Karma have their unique differences. DJI Mavic is considered lighter weighing only 1.62 pounds compared to GoPro Karma at 2.22 pounds. DJI Mavic can fly up to 5,000 meters for 27 minutes while GoPro Karma at 4,500 meters in 20 minutes.
GoPro Karma's gimbal and camera are removable. This is advantageous when there is a need to change the camera. The DJI Mavic is built-in which doesn't sit well for some of the sports camera brands.
DJI Mavic can follow a user everywhere even indoors. GoPro Karma has Electronic Image Stabilization in the camera and also carries GoPro's signature wide angle features. GoPro Karma also enables the users to sign up to GoPro Plus account for only $4.99 for cloud storage and other editing apps.
GoPro Karma retails for $799 while DJI Mavic costs $749 without the remote control. If remote and drone added, the GoPro Karma will retail to $999 US. It is indeed challenging to decide which one is better. It is up to the decision and preference of the discerning and critical buyers.
