Well, there you have it folks. Ducks loose. The Oregon Ducks got blown out in double overtime just before midnight at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium, Berkeley, California. The loss felt hard and it was painful for the Ducks.
Current head coach Mark Helfrich appears to be haunted by the ghost of the Ducks’ former coach Chip Kelly as he leads his team to its 5th straight loss of the season, matching the team’s longest losing streak in 20 years.
In a statement to Oregon Live, coach Mark Helfrich said, “I feel awful that we couldn't get it done for them, for how they've stuck together. We've had a lot of opportunities to splinter and they haven't.” whose collective effort has been questioned for weeks.
Oregon Ducks fan aren’t happy, obviously, with the turnout of events. #FireHefrich posts have been flooding the feeds on Twitter.
And as Friday night slowly approached early Saturday morning, Helfrich appeared to be exhausted, voice hoarse, while watching his team lose 52-49 to California Golden Bears.
The Golden Bears (4-3, 2-2, PAC 12) ran 118 plays against the Ducks’ 85 for a school-record high which probably drained whatever reserves Oregon had for the latter parts of the game.
This puts the Ducks in a very tight spot indeed as they have to win four of their last five games to even be in Super Bowl contention. Coach Helfrich and the rest of Ducks spoke of reasons for encouragement ahead of the daunting task facing them. It’s all they can do to acknowledge the reality of the spiraling season they are in.
Everybody is now wondering should the Ducks resurrect Chip Kelly as head coach instead of seeing his ghost on the sidelines? What do you think? Share your thoughts on the comment box below.
