‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’ Singer, Pete Burns, Dead At 57

Pete Burns, the lead singer of the band "Dead or Alive," lost his life at the age of 57, his family confirmed. He suffered a cardiac arrest. The singer was also a former contestant of the TV show "Celebrity Big Brother."

According to CBS News, Pete Burns' family released a statement in which they said that the singer suddenly died of cardiac arrest and that they will make a further statement after coping with the tragic loss. Pete Burns became famous as "Dead or Alive's" singer when the song "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" gained prominence as it reached number 1 on the U.K. billboard charts.

When Pete Burns joined "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2006, the song made its waves on the charts again, becoming number 5 in U.K. It was also sitting number 11 on the U.S. billboards back when it was first released.

Rolling Stone also reported that Flo Rida and Kesha had adopted the song and named it "Right Round," which also rose to the top spot in the Billboards 200. Before the rise of "Dead or Alive," Pete Burns was already a member of the goth band "Nightmares in Wax" during the late seventies. They released the hit "Black Leather" before changing their band name to "Dead or Alive."

The band made a number of singles after that, including "The Stranger." They finally created an album called "Sophisticated Boom Boom," including their rendition of the song "That's the Way (I Like It)."

Through the years, Pete Burns continued to record and tour with "Dead or Alive" but he became more famous for dramatically changing his appearances and joining in reality TV shows. He underwent cosmetic surgeries and was quoted to be saying, "People redecorate their homes every few years and I see this as no different. Changing my face is like buying a new sofa," Pete Burns stated to Daily Mail.
