"The Good Wife" is gearing up for the release of its spinoff series and has been adding new cast members. Among the latest additions are Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters, just after Rose Leslie and Delroy Lindo were cast.
"CSI" veteran actor Paul Guilfoyle and Tony-winning actress Bernadette Peters have been tapped to join "The Good Wife" spinoff for recurring roles. The news came just after it was announced that the "Game of Thrones" alum Rose Leslie and "Get Shorty" actor Delroy Lindo have been added as series regulars.
Rose Leslie will play the character named Maia, the goddaughter of Diane Lockhart (played by Christine Baranski). Paul Guilfoyle will play as Henry, Maia's father, a wealthy, well-loved and successful financial advisor. Bernadette Peters will play as Maia's mother, Lenore, who is also a financial whiz. Delroy Lindo, meanwhile, will play as Attorney Robert Boseman, who starts poaching Diane's associates and clients when she fell into a huge financial crisis, per The Hollywood Reporter.
"The Good Wife" spinoff, which still has no official title, will pick up a year after the series finale of "The Good Wife." According to Deadline, Maia will be a victim of a big financial scam that would ruin her reputation as a lawyer as well as wipe out the savings of her mentor Diane. It would also force them to leave Lockhart & Lee and so they will join Lucca Quinn (played by Cush Jumbo) at her Chicago law firm.
"The Good Wife" spinoff is set to have 10 episodes, which will premiere in February 2017 on CBS and then move exclusively to CBS All Access. Robert and Michelle King, the creators of the original "The Good Wife" series, have come onboard as showrunners of the spinoff. Executive producer Brooke Kennedy is directing the show's pilot episode.
